Manually-Extended Passports Not Accepted in Morocco

The Philippine Embassy in Athens informs Filipinos under its jurisdiction to avoid travelling to Morocco on a manually-extended passport to avoid being denied entry into the said country.

According to the Philippine Embassy in Rabat, “The Moroccan border post management system does not allow the validation of extended biometrics travel documents by means of a wet stamp”.

Please be advised that the Philippines has discontinued the extension of validity of the passports since June 2022 in compliance with the existing standards of the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO). Exemptions, however, were earlier made only at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to assist stranded passengers.

Philippine passport holders are advised to renew their passports as early as possible as most immigration authorities will require the passports to be valid at least six (6) months before their intended departure from the country. The manual extension of validity of the passport is not guarantee of admission into a foreign country.
